Board of Directors
Heart Beats’ Board of Directors is composed of dedicated volunteers from diverse backgrounds, united by personal or professional connections to pediatric heart disease. Many of our board members are parents of children with a wide range of heart conditions, from infancy through adulthood. Their lived experiences ensure that Heart Beats initiatives provide meaningful support to families at every stage—from the moment of diagnosis through the transition to adult care.

Vice Chair
Brett Stevenson brings strong financial insight and leadership to Heart Beats. Outside of his board work, he enjoys golfing, weight training, traveling, and celebrating Christmas, which happens to be his birthday. Brett shares his adventures with his Bernese Mountain Dog–Golden Retriever mix, Dallas, and has a soft spot for country music.

Jon Hesketh,

Jon has been an active member of the Heart Beats community since 2015 and brings both lived experience and long-standing volunteer commitment to this role. He has contributed creatively and consistently behind the scenes, including leading the Keeping Up the Beat newsletter and supporting programs alongside his family. Professionally, Jon brings nearly 15 years of non-profit experience in community-building, culture development, and strategic planning. He combines strong communication skills with a collaborative, roll-up-your-sleeves approach that would be a valuable asset to the Board.

Erika is a mom of two and a heart mom, bringing lived experience and deep compassion to her leadership. As a pedorthist and small business owner, she offers strategic thinking, operational insight, and an understanding of sustainability and governance. She demonstrated strong organization, reliability, and follow-through during committee work. Living in Banff, Erika brings valuable perspective on the challenges rural families face accessing care in both Calgary and Edmonton and is passionate about strengthening connection and support for our HeartBeats families.

SUPPORT & OPERATIONS MANAGER
Robyn is a heart mom, advocate, and the Support & Operations Manager at Heart Beats Children's Society. She works alongside families to connect them with support, community, and resources while helping coordinate programs, volunteers, and day-to-day operations.
As a child, Robyn dreamed of becoming a professional ballerina. Thankfully, a lack of grace and balance led her to advocacy instead. Today, she combines lived experience, curiosity, and determination to help families navigate heart life and find connection along the way.
