Supporting Families in Times of Need

We know that the journey of raising a child with CHD can come with unexpected financial challenges. At Heart Beats, we’re committed to helping families alleviate some of the stress through financial assistance programs and resources. Whether it’s covering travel costs or offering support for day-to-day expenses, we’re here to ensure you’re not facing these challenges alone.

How Our Financial Support Works

Heart Beats now provides financial assistance through referral only. This ensures families are supported through the correct process and that assistance is provided based on eligibility, including income and financial need.

Once a child receives a CHD diagnosis, a social worker from the Family & Community Resource Centre (FCRC) should be assigned to the family. Your FCRC social worker is your primary point of contact for beginning the referral process for Heart Beats Financial Assistance.

Your social worker will help assess eligibility and guide you through the next steps.

Programs We Support

Our Financial Assistance Program provides support to families who must travel to Edmonton or other locations for their child’s surgery, as well as those facing difficulties covering expenses related to their child’s heart condition.

In addition, our Helping Hands Program and Hearts Away Program offer gift certificates to assist families travelling long distances, helping cover essential costs like meals and accommodations during this stressful time.

How to Access Support

If you would like more information or believe your family may qualify for financial assistance, please reach out to your assigned FCRC social worker. They will begin the referral process and help determine the support available to you.
